Scary Wobot

Zoe has been facinated with robots for a while. Our conversation this evening was facinating to me.
Zoe: Mommy. Wobot scares me.
Me: The robot is scary?
Zoe: Yes. Where is scary robot?
Me: The robot isn't here.
Zoe: Scary wobot went bye-bye?
Me: Yes. The robot went away.
Zoe: Yep. Scary wobot went to work.
Me: Why is the robot scary?
Zoe: The wobot scares me.
Me: The robot is nice. He likes Zoe.
Zoe: . Ok. Wobot not scary.

Her imagination and vocabulary is amazing!

The Zoo

Zoe loved visiting the Zoo! We took an umbrella since there was a chance of rain. Over the course of the few hours we were at the zoo, the umbrella became her "Rain" lovey. Look for it in the pictures! She loved the animal statues around the Zoo grounds. The baby elephant was just about her size... Baby Elephant! But the goose was taller than she was! Hi Goose! And the gorilla was as big as Daddy! Wow! Big Gorilla! She enjoyed the Monkeys... Do you see the monkey? And the fish, snakes and turtles... The turtle is swimming! Watching the fish swim What is Zoe looking at here? Looking at the turkey and deer She said, "My Turkey!" My Turkey! (* See the cracks in the glass? We just left the big cat area that had lions, jaguars and mountain lions. It was slightly more reassuring to see the cracks in the turkey/deer/crane area than the big cat area!) But her favorite part of the zoo was the bird area. "Tweet Tweet!" Watching the roadrunners Holding her "Rain" Lovely Walking around

23 month Videos

We've had a lot of rain lately which is great for everyone except toddlers who really want to play outside. Luckily we have a carport and we can pull our cars out of the covered carport area to give her a large area to play. Of course, the dry pavement doesn't call to her the same way the puddles do! Our little toddler has also found her directing skills. Almost everyday she will say a phrase or do a movement and ask whoever is around to repeat it. If you don't hear her or don't repeat it, she will say your name over and over until you finally give in and follow her direction. The video below shows some of her directing skills as she's instructing Mom and Dad to bark.

Twenty Two

Sunday July 26th was a day of 22 in our house. Zoe turned 22 months and I hit my 22nd week of pregnancy. 22 marks a lot of growing for both of us. Zoe is learning new words at an astonishing rate.

Zoe's new words the past few weeks have been:
"Empty"- previously known as "End"
"Aw Man!"- said when she saw a Swiper the Fox doll
"Zoe"- she finally says her and she says,
"Zoe Ballerina"- when referring to her Zoe doll
"Baby"- not a new word but she points to her belly or my belly
"Side"- meaning outside. Usually said when she wants to go play outside
"Horsie"- this word she learned while visiting in Texas
"Eee Aww"- meaning Yee Haw. Learned this from Woody in Toy Story.
"Ash"- she pulls her stool up to the sink and wants to wash her hands. Well, more like play in the water.

Enjoy the video of her laughing while being tickled!
Chuck is growing at a slower but no less astonishing rate. I feel her kicking and moving around very frequently. Daddy was able to feel her this week when she went on a kick boxing exercise. I found out from my OB that I have complete placenta previa. Our hope is that as Chuck grows, the placenta will move out of the way and I can avoid a c-section delivery. I will have another ultrasound between 30-32 weeks to evaluate the placenta placement. My odd request for friends and family would be to pray that the placenta moves so I can have a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery!

First Haircut!

Yay! We finally have a computer! Our last laptop gave us all kinds of problems and we had already sent it into HP once to fix the motherboard. It stopped working a second time and HP found liquid damage so they wouldn't fix the ongoing issue with the motherboard. We broke down and bought a little Dell Mini netbook. It's tiny but it fits our needs! All these computer woes mean that I haven't been able to upload pictures to update the blog for several weeks. But I'm back! A few weeks ago Gi Gi came to visit and we took a trip to the botanical gardens. I'm not sure Zoe was really into seeing all the plants and flowers but she did enjoy spending time with Gi Gi. IMG_2277 It was very hot at the gardens but we still had a great time! IMG_2272 IMG_2312 I think I've mentioned before how much Zoe loves Elmo! She's beginning to recognize all the Sesame Street characters now and shouts out their names when she sees them. I was finally able to get a video of her watching the opening of Sesame Street. She was enjoying some juice in the big girl cup but stopped drinking long enough to shout out! Zoe was "helping" to clean by pulling everything out of a box and found the 0-6 month halloween costume she wore when she was a baby. I added the tutu and Bee Ballerina was dancing around the house! (You can also see our new painted living room in the background. Warm brown is so much better than glaring yellow) IMG_2341 Aunt Sharon and GiGi came to visit last weekend. Zoe loves having them visit! When they leave she wonders around the house looking for them saying, "Gi Gi? Aron?" IMG_2352 We also experienced one of the biggest milestones (for Mommy at least!) last weekend. The first haircut!! Zoe's bangs were getting too long and were always in her eyes. We took her to SnipIts as a treat and it went great! They gave her a sucker to keep her hands occupied and she did so good! Here's the before of her long hair. Toddler Tornado!

Where did my cautious slow moving Zoe go? She's only been walking for 4 months but she's quickly learned how to be a toddler tornado! I now understand what my Mom meant when she said watching me run around the house when I was little made her tired. Watching Zoe run from here to there playing and making a mess is exhausting! She really is into everything!

This picture was taken on a day after we planted some grass seed. We were trying to set the sprinkler up so that it got the entire yard wet but not the neighbors. Zoe was too curious about the sprinkler and got very wet. This picture was right after she got sprayed in the face! IMG_2187 But she had a great time and was mad when we made her come in! IMG_2189 She's learning new words almost every day. Our drive home from daycare is the time when I really get to learn what new word she picked up that day. Last week it was "Puppy" and on Thursday it was "Plane". I've been trying to teach her to say "Help" so she can tell us when she wants us to help. When she says it however it sounds identical to "Up" so it can be a confusing communication between us. She's also found a recent love of ALL things Elmo. When she's out and about, her little eagle eye will spot Elmo as quick as can be. Watching Sesame Street is a real treat with her; especially the opening which shows Elmo "MELMO!" walking by and the Big Bird "IG BIWD". Anyone that's watched Sesame Street in the past 5 years has seen the new Elmo's World section of the show. As soon as the hears the "La la la la Elmo's World" song, she bee-lines to stand in front of the TV and shout "Melmo!" over and over. She played in her little pool one warm day and tried to convince Bella to join her in the water. IMG_2214 She never did get quite brave enough to sit in the cold water but she had tons of fun splashing and stomping in the water! IMG_2207 She's also very much into imitating what she sees. She feeds her baby doll, gives it milk from her sippy cup and likes to make her Ballerina Zoe doll dance around. I pulled out the umbrella stroller and she enjoyed several hours of pushing it around with her Zoe doll inside. IMG_2236 IMG_2129 The most frustrating things of this age (19 months) is dealing with her sudden temper tantrums and her answer of "Nuh uh" for everything. She also loves closing every single door in our house. She hasn't figured out yet how to open them so a few times we'll realize it's very quiet. We have to do a room by room sweep looking for her because she shut herself in a room. IMG_2142 The list of what she can say: Elmo, Big Bird, Mama, Dada, Papa, GiGi, Pop-Pop, Puppy, Dog, Kitty, Bella, Nuh uh, No, Up, Down, Hi, Bye Bye, Love you, Please, cheese, Thank you, Yucky, Yummy, Hungry, & Zoe. She can also spell her name, "Z O E" and she knows letters on a page are different from numbers. She calls all letters A. If you haven't noticed it before, I added a new widget to the blog. Zoe is on twitter and there's usually a weekly update with a picture. If you aren't on twitter, just check out her latest postings by looking at the widget! Finally our big news (and the reason for the absence of new posts on this blog), Zoe is going to be a big sister! We are so happy and are looking forward to seeing Zoe grow and share her life with a little brother or sister! This baby is due in late November or early December. I'm 12 weeks along now and feeling much better. Now that the morning sickness and some of the exhaustion has passed, I hope to get back into the swing of updating Zoe's blog! IMG_1939

Picture Time!

Some picture updates from our busy little toddler: Playing with Play-Do for the first time. She wasn't sure what to think of it. Yes, she tried to eat it several times. IMG_1700 After Play-Do we moved on to artwork. She's getting really skilled with holding a crayon. IMG_1712 The product of her crayon skills: Zoe's Art She still enjoys standing inside the fridge. I guess the cool air feels good. IMG_1720 We got a toddler swing recently. She loves it! IMG_1743 When we push her higher and faster she SQUEALS with delight and sticks out her tongue. IMG_1744 Bella and Zoe are constant playmates. Once Zoe learns how to run, they'll really have some fun! IMG_1764 Grannie and Zoe smiles IMG_1788 Pop Pop and Zoe laughing IMG_1804

Ank Ooo

Zoe has been such a delight the last few weeks! She does something cute everyday. Of course there have been quite a few temper tantrums to go along with the great moods. Both bottom molars have come through and both of the upper molars are about halfway broken through.
She's getting much better at walking and will even "jump" while holding onto something.
Zoe is learning her manners and will usually say thank you ( or Ank Ooo is how she says it ) when you give her something. We are also working on transition her from her favorite sign into actually saying "more please". Of course it sounds something like "oor ease" when she says it. She's also started to call for Bella when Bella is out of sight. Imagine a 17 month old girl squealing/yelling "Nella" over and over. And if Bella actually comes to Zoe, Zoe will squeal with laughter! Each night after her bedtime stories are over she will say "end" and then "bye bye" instead of goodnight.
She has her 18 month appointment on Friday so I'll have updated stars soon.

She walks!

Our laptop's motherboard is fried so I'm trying to blog with my iPhone. I figured a small text only update is better than nothing right? The big news is that zoe is finally walking! I went to daycare on Friday to pick her up and what a pleasant surprise to walk in and see her walking towards me! I know it won't be long until she becomes more skilled and I am running after her. She's also been talking ip a storm lately. She started saying "bye-bye" complete with a little wave. She's mastered the art of the headshake and the word "no". She says "nana" for bananas and "Ahhhh" when she's thirsty. She also says "Ooh cold" and will try to repeat back anything she hears. She knows the last line of her favorite book, "Five Little Ladybugs". She loves snuggling with her stuffed animals and climbing into our laps for book reading. Everyday she makes me laugh and she now realizes she makes me laugh at certain things so she will try to repeat the action that made me laugh. She's getting so big! Where have the 17 months gone?

Picture Update

Grrr! This is the look she gives anyone who gets in her way. IMG_1270 Playing with a train at Grandma Mary's house IMG_1142 One Saturday recently Zoe was bored so I dressed her up in this outfit and she had the best time! She loved wearing the tights and playing with a purse (that's the blurry thing in the picture) IMG_1474 We took her to park yesterday since the weather was so nice. She loves to swing! IMG_1451 If you look closely, you might see the drool that kept falling out of her mouth while she was swinging. IMG_1243 Zoe dressed up and ready for the cold. Hat, scarf and gloves. IMG_1336 Zoe and her 2nd cousin Baylie. I can't wait until they actually play and interact with each other! IMG_1418 Zoe loves to go "Hup" on my shoulders.
